Peterson Ridge Rumble 60K

I had an amazing run @ Peterson's! 5:54:50 - 9:43 pace.

I ran my race strong and was successful at keeping a steady pace from the beginning.

I ran the majority of my race running from Julz, just when I thought I had dropped her she'd pop up! I managed to get an occassional glimpse of Ronda and that "pink" shirt. At one time she stopped for a potty break and I continued on down the trail, right before we climbed the cinder road I hopped off the trail to hide behind a tree or at least try. My outfit was bright and the tree was small! :-)

Julz passed me on the road like I was standing still. As we came into the AS after the climb I took a breath, filled my water bottle, took another gel and got in the downhill zone! I pushed pass a lot of people that had passed me on the climb. I was in my element realized the push that layed ahead. In the final last mile I saw the "pink" shirt and got very excited. Varner passed by me and I told him to tell my twin that "I'm coming"...then I changed my mind and said, "wait, don't tell her I'm coming". I watched Varner as he ran past Ronda and then watched her look at her watch and then look behind her and pick up her pace. I continued to push the pace and draw a little closer.....but she continued to hold me off. We headed around the track and she ran into the finish as I was pushing my final 100 yards. I had a very successful race I was so elated with how I ran and how I was able run fast for a large partion of the race.

It's taken me some time but I am learning about how to pace myself and to be confident & strong in what I can do. Remembering that each race is "mine", to run for myself even when competing against others. Remembering that I don't start too fast so that I have something at the end.

McDonald Forest 50K, is my next race and a continuation of my training for Bighorn 100.

Last year I ran 6:28 - I'm hoping to run a sub 6 hour race this year.
