Dream to Live

Ronda & I headed to Huntington Beach, Ca. for the Surf City Marathon. We stayed at the Hilton. While we were there we noticed a group of people from Herbalife. Some wore a pretty silly button - "ask me how to lose weight" & handbags that said "Dream to Live". I feel like the bag should have read Live & Dream! Yes, dreams are important I get that part, but in order to dream you first have to start living. My motto is "Get up and Get moving", as you move you'll get motivated and then your ideas will change and grow. See that we are then capable of so much more. People think it's all about fanatical running and that is the farthest thing from the truth. For me when I run I am alive and I see things differently and things around me come alive, in turn I start to dream about different things.

When I sat in a chair for eight hours a day....I dreamed....but about what?
To be honest not a whole lot. Same Ole same ole. What do you dream about?
Live and then you'll start to dream.

*THE MARATHON *

Surf City Marathon is done and over....some relief and some trepidation. I didn't run it how I had planned but, that's how it happens sometimes. I ran a 3:49 a 5 min. PR.

I bought some new socks for the marathon. Yes, I know the rule.."never try out anything new on a marathon". I had used Smartwool socks in the past so I figured they'd all be about the same. "wrong" - I had a good strong first half and then I had succumb to a run/walking after mile 16. Metatarsal pain...ouch!

We both know that we are stronger for all of the training that we have done. Now, this week is about rest & then trail season training begins.

One of the great things about the trip...we had some sunshine! We both managed to get at tan while putting in some miles and we haven't be able to say that for quite awhile!

You said it, "we are both stronger for the training we did". Time to test it on some serious terrain. Rest up!
