Blast From The Past!

Before running (almost 3 years ago)
Who is that person?
Me now! - 1/2010As the New Year is just getting started. I decided to look back over the last 2 years of "Ultra" running. It wasn't that long ago, I was sitting in a recliner chair for 8+ hours a day taking large amounts of pain pills! I had a chronic illness that the Dr.'s could not label....so they called it Fibromyalgia. That's a band-aid term to me!
Gary took a picture of me and I looked at myself and became so very unhappy with the way I looked. Stoned! The Lord put a hunger in my heart to "LIVE" again and reclaim my life. So that's what I did. It started with less than 1 mile on the treadmill in 20 min. to 3 miles on the road. Meanwhile, I read a book called, "The Ultra Marathon Man". Some crazy guy running over a hundred miles and stopping to eat whole pizzas. I loved it.
So, now 2 years later I have fully dived into "Ultra" running and it has been so much fun, I can't explain it! Last year I ran my farthest race...100K - 61 miles and I was able to run w/ Gary on his 1st 100 mile race.
This year is my year to kick it into high gear!! I have my first 100 mile race in June - Bighorn 100 miler in Wyoming and Bear 100 Miler in Utah. Along with some other cool adventures!
I wasn't a runner in highschool or college, but my love for running has always been there. I ran in Jr. High & Grade school. So now when I run I feel like a little kid again. It is a freeing feeling and I thank The Lord for what a blessing He has given me to be able to run! He gave me my life back and I promise not to waste what I've been given.
I'm not saying everyone has to become a crazy long distance runner, but what I'm saying is..
Is there something you want to do but just don't?
Do you make promises with yourself but never follow through?
Do you want something to change but don't know how to do it?
Get up and get moving! You'll be amazed at what happens...things change if you change what your doing!

Cheri, honey, read this story first written by Charlie (on CC100 blog) and was so happy for you! All's great in life when things can be done by normal people, right? I have a picture like that on my side bar too:) Here is to an awesome 2010!
WOW - What a transformation. You rock girl. Our bodies are designed to do work, and it looks like you have been busy.
