Seattle Rock n Roll Marathon

Trisha & Me @ 5:40am!

My first marathon. Trisha and I and our daughters headed up to Seattle early on Friday am. We went to get our packets and attend the Expo! It was tons of fun. We sampled all kinds of snacks and drinks. Hannah and I got our picture taken in the little "phonebooth", making lots of silly faces! I had a parafin wax hand treatment and a quick hand massage. I wanted to put my foot in but they weren't doing feet! haha. We grab lunch at Grand Central Bakery it was delicious.

My very own Cheering Section!!

We were pleasantly surprised with the Holiday Inn, Kent - It was nice and clean and cheap! I definately will go back there if I need to go to Seattle again.

Still happy @ mile 17

The race was bright and early - We left the hotel @ 5:40am. The crowds were huge but we were toward the front which was nice. The idea with the run was for it to be a progressive run. I started with a 9:15 pace and continued every 5 miles to bump it up a smidge. I did ok for quite a while. I had a burst somewhere around mile 19-23. Mile 24 was getting hard for me, having to climb yet another hill so close to the finish. My last mile of course, was faster. I finished @ 3:54 and I was excited! I had absolutely no pressure for a certain time and I felt fairly good throughout the whole run. I was amazed with the road running that my legs and feet didn't hurt. I walked away feeling fairly good - I guess that means I didn't give it my "all". It was just a training run so I think I ended it just fine.

Trisha - wootwoot!

It was a nice get away for the family. Afterwards, we took the kids back to the pool so they could swim a bit and then we went out for sushi before we returned home.

The trip was a success! A friend asked me on Sun. if I wanted to run the Flat Marathon in Portland this Sat. Julie has broken her toe and can't run....did I want to run with her number??

With my sick and twisted mind I said, "Yes". So, this Sat. I'll be running the Flat Marathon! Once again, no pressure.....it's just a training run, my goal is to keep it under 4 and have fun!

Way to go! How many runs do you have scheduled this summer?
