Build 1

I have just rounded the corner in finishing up Build 1 week. My hill repeats and long run went really well. I felt good on all of my runs with not a whole lot to complain about. I actually am excited to see what my body does!

Black Saturday went well too. Ronda & Michael & Steve were doing 2x50 + 50 power hike. So, that would have left me sitting by the trail for too long, so I took my own car. I arrived early at the trail to find Steve there. He was kind enough to wait for me and we headed up the trail....he walked the first mile, and I was in a full sweat within the first mile! I put my music on and headed up the hill for my 2 x 35, that was my longest hill repeat! and I didn't walk! wootwoot!! Then came Sunday, Gary had to help his sister move so I was "very" worried at how I was going to get my long run in.......Luckily Gary is crazy about running too and we headed out on a night run from 7:30pm to 12:30pm - Through Forest Park. We were wondering if the car would get towed or not since it was past 10pm. We met some interesting kids on the trail. They were doing road riding on bmx altered bikes.....shooting down the hills from the zoo. They had double decker bikes, it was pretty crazy! I think they were happy we weren't cops.

Monday we took the kids to Champoeg Park and let them ride thier bikes for about an hour while we ran along with them.

I have just started Build week 2. I have the longest hill repeat week ever (again)and a decent long run to put in. Let's see how I feel on Monday!?? I have measurements with Mark on Tuesday. I also, am struggling with getting in the weight training and eating so "many" meals in a day.

I feel stronger and kind of a new heightened experience. As I think back to the long runs 5,10, 20 miles and remembering how sore I would be...now I'm not! It really is amazing at what the body can do. I truly am blessed to be able to run in the woods and feel the wind blow in my face.......I am always thankful!

On a lighter note........I am the official Proud owner of a copy of "Buns of Steel" vhs. This is the old eighties VHS tape that I have been wanting ever since I started this crazy stuff called "running". I'll keep you posted on the progress - unless you happen to notice on your own....then I will have definately gotten my $5.05 monies worth!
